About

Ty’ya Tahara Pettis is a marketing doctoral student, brand and creative strategist, and social justice advocate. She is passionate about creating culturally and socially responsible marketing solutions that improve the lives of people and the health of the planet.


She is currently the head of digital and social media marketing at Woodmont Properties, a real estate development company, where she leads the development and execution of brand marketing and corporate communications strategies. She is also a brand marketing graduate research assistant at the Rutgers Institute for the Study of Global Racial Justice, where she promotes global racial justice initiatives and fosters innovative corporate partnerships.


She is pursuing her Doctor of Business Administration in marketing at Rutgers Business School, focusing on the incorporation of anti-racist corporate social responsibility initiatives into brand strategy and their impact on brand affinity. She holds an MBA in marketing from Montclair State University and an MS in real estate development from New York University.


She is also a freelance social media marketing manager and a brand and digital strategy consultant, offering her expertise to individuals and small businesses. She specializes in strategy development and planning, brand development, social media marketing, brand visual identity design, and content creation.

  • Appointed to VP, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Access and co-chair of AMA NJ’s C.I.R.L.C.E. (Cultivating Inclusion, Representation, Leadership, Community, and Engagement) Committee

  • Presentor on Race, Racism, & Anti-Racism at the 2021 Latino Action Network Foundation Youth Conference
