Rudrani V. Sarma is a Ph.D. candidate in English Literature at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, expecting to graduate in May 2025. Her research focuses on the intersection of race, literature, and medicine in the nineteenth century. She holds an M.A. in English Literature and an A.B. magna cum laude in English Literature from Bryn Mawr College.

Dr. Sarma has published in Children's Literature and received awards such as the Cheryl A. Wall essay prize and the Emerging Scholars essay prize. She has presented at conferences, exploring topics from Indian minstrel acts to the lynching scene in The/An Octoroon.

In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Sarma has taught Expository Writing and contributed to the Principles of Literary Study course. She has served as a Research Assistant at the Institute for the Study of Global Racial Justice and participated in departmental service, including technical support for online teaching.

Her diverse experiences include roles as a Grant Writer for the Melharmony Foundation and Project Manager at Epic Systems Co. Dr. Sarma's contributions reflect her dedication to advancing knowledge and understanding the connections between literature, race, and medicine.
