43rd Annual Marion Thompson Write Lecture flyer

 

After openings from Political and University dignitaries there will be lectures from four food historians: Dr. Edda Fields-Black, Jessica B. Harris, Lolis Eric Ellie, and Dr. Psyche Williams-Forson. Two speakers will lecture in the morning and two after lunch. Lunch will be available for $10 and will include an array of African diasporic foods. People will also be invited to share their food stories in a designated are of the Newark Museum Courtyard. After lunch their will be award presentations for two Historic Food families and two local Newark Schools who are champions for food access. The Source of Knowledge Book store will be on site to sell titles from our speakers as well as other African Diasporic related food titles. The day will end with a reception in the courtyard which will include more African Diasporic food options and an opportunity to engage with related community organizations.
