Ren Sevilla

About
Ren is a Junior at Rutgers-New Brunswick double majoring in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies. Growing up Filipino-American and seeing the lack of representation for Southeast Asians made her acutely aware of the homogenization of information regarding marginalized communities. She believes that social justice is about extending humanity and care towards each other, and this framework informs her solidarity with the Black Lives Matter and Stop AAPI Hate movements.

How Do Social and Racial Justice Concerns Appear in Your Work?
I have always been one to apply an intersectional lens to virtually everything that I do. It's how I have come to understand and critique information as I take it in and it's always valuable to understand how systems of power indirectly (or directly) affect our lives and the services available to us.
