Ashley Ramdat

About
Ashley Ramdat is a senior at Rutgers Newark pursuing a degree in Psychology with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. They're also an LGBTQ+ Raider Intern at the RU-N Intercultural Resource Center (IRC), using a Peer-to-Peer program to support Queer students and provide them a safe space for any of their needs. As a Queer Indo-Caribbean person, they use their own experiences to help with informing and advocating for the recognition of intersectionality's impact within the program's roles. In their activism, Ashley often focuses on the intersections of disability, legal status, sexuality, gender, and racial identity. These also extend to their interest in promoting decolonization and liberation for all along with bringing attention to the multiple genocides occurring worldwide. They often emphasize the importance of community care and collectivist mental health resources for all marginalized folks, while hoping to become a community psychologist to help research and implement interventions in the future.
